Late Afternoon On Clearwater Beach

After visiting Eureka Springs Park, I decided to head across town to Clearwater Beach. You may have heard of Clearwater Beach since it's a popular spring break destination. I was here during the late afternoon and into dusk. It has a different atmosphere than Siesta Beach - Siesta is, as it's name suggest, more laid back.

Looking north up the beach.

A lifeguard station.

Water action had created a one to two foot high ridge.

This is the idea of a cottage on this part of the beach.

A Hobiecat.

I don't think this alligator is too menacing.

A nice beachfront hotel.

A pier at dusk.

Looking south at dusk.

I'll close with a sunset.

More from Eureka Springs Park

One of the nice things about living in Florida was that you didn't have to worry about winter. These photos from Eureka Springs Park were taken in the middle of winter.

Probably not the kind of animal life you were expecting. This is the park cat.

Flowers.

Not sure what this one is.

Base of a Cypress tree.

Another orchid.

More orchids.

Return to Lowry Park Zoo

Okay, I admit it - I love zoos. So here are a few more from Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo.

Tiger.

This isn't a particularly good photo, and I'm not sure what kind of animal this is, but I think it's cool.

A couple of water fowl.

A mother and baby Orangutan.

An old man Chimpanzee, who looks like he means business.

Some Ring-Tailed Lemurs.

Black and White Angolan Colobus.

Don Cesar Hotel

The Don Cesar Hotel is very close to Fort De Soto Park, so I stopped there on my way home from the park to get a few photos. My usual statement about the Landmarks I've Visited links applies here too.

Wide angle view of the front.

Closer in on the middle.

And close in on the top section.

Fort De Soto Park, St. Petersburg

Fort De Soto Park is on Mullet Key at the very southern tip of Pinellas County, Florida. Information concerning the park can by found by following the link in the Landmarks I've Visited section.

An Australian Pine is surrounded by sea oats.

An interesting looking plant is growing within the old fronds on the trunk of this palm tree.

What's a fort without a cannon?

Looking through the bars.

More from Eureka Springs Park

Yet another trip to Eureka Springs Park. Who can blame me for frequenting a place with so many photographic subjects, especially when it was less than ten miles from where I lived?

A rose opening up.

Another rose.

And another.

Hibiscus.

An unusual color for a hibiscus.

Very interesting orchid.

More from Eureka Springs Park

Seems like I was just at Eureka Springs Park. Oh wait, I was. One of the great things about this park, in addition to the beautiful outdoor gardens, is the greenhouse. Many of the flower photos in this post, as well as the last post, were taken in the greenhouse.

Water lillies. Of course, these were not in the greenhouse.

Another water lily.

Close up of some colorful leaves. I didn't have a macro lens, so I purchased extension tubes to be able to take macros.

A very patient grasshopper.

A hibiscus.

Orchid.

Orchid.

Not sure what type of plant this is, but I like the photo.

Unknown.

Another orchid.
