Spring Visit to Devil's Backbone, Boone County, Missouri

Four months after my winter visit to Devil's Backbone, I returned on a beautiful May afternoon to explore a little bit more. Without ice and snow to interfere, I hiked down the trail as far as legally possible. Again, the scenery was amazing.

Winter Visit to Devil's Backbone, Boone County, Missouri

I had wanted to check out Devil's Backbone for a while, so on a cold January day after a bit of a snowfall, I drove out to the site just to the southeast of Columbia Regional Airport. Devil's Backbone is a ridge surrounded by a loop of Cedar Creek at the boundary with Callaway County. I've read that some of the cliffs are nearly 200 feet high!

Concert at Rose Music Hall: White Reaper

White Reaper came to Columbia, so of course I had to go. I thought The Truman in Kansas City was intimate; Rose Music Hall's outdoor venue is even more so. And for an outdoor concert in the middle of August in Missouri, the temperature and humidity weren't too bad!

Autumn Sky

The sky behind the autumn leaves was stunning on an early November evening. I had only to travel to the back yard to find this scene.
