Another Visit to Shelter Gardens

Yet another trip to Shelter Gardens. And again, there were new things to photograph. This must have been a prolific spring, as there were loads of flowers to shoot.

Lillies.

I think this is a day lily.

A type of Iris, perhaps.

More Shelter Gardens

Again I find myself at Shelter Gardens, but that's a good thing. I find new things every time I go there. Here are a few more photos from the gardens from a beautiful spring day.

Magnolia Bloom

I mentioned some time ago in a post from Boca Grande that I liked what I call texturals, and I included a photo of seashells. This is almost the exact same photo, except with flowers. Find the other photo and make the comparison.

Daffodil.

And yet more daffodils.

More from Shelter Gardens

This spring day in 1997 was gorgeous, and called for a visit to one of my favorite places in Columbia. And since it was right next door to where I lived, it only took a couple of minutes to get there.

The main gate to Shelter Gardens.

Not the greatest photo, but I thought the plants looked cool.

Shelter Gardens, Columbia

I used to live in an apartment complex in Columbia that bordered on Shelter Gardens. I was lucky because my apartment was right next to the gardens. You could say that the gardens were my back yard. Here are some photos from a visit there in the late summer of 1996.

An old school house was moved to the grounds of Shelter Gardens. The photo is black and white because I had a few frames left on the roll I shot earlier at Union Covered Bridge.

A brilliant red rose.

These look like marigolds to me, but I'm not a trained horticulturist.

These look like the same type of flower as in the photo above, but they're definitely not marigolds. Maybe they're mums.

Perhaps a type of hibiscus.

Shelter Insurance, Columbia, Missouri

A visit to Columbia was included on this vacation to Missouri. I had heard that Shelter Insurance had some nice gardens, so I assumed what I found in the front of the headquarters building were them. I didn't realized that Shelter Gardens, a very large place, was just to the west of here. But, I got a few photos anyway.

More flowers.

I thought these were interesting.

And very colorful.

Also very bright - almost as bright as bouganvillia.
