Return to Union Covered Bridge

It's been a long time since I visited Union Covered Bridge, near Madison and Paris, Missouri. The bridge has been restored and the graffiti removed, with it now in much better shape than it was on my last visit.

Union Covered Bridge, Revisited

It had been a while since I'd been to Union Covered Bridge - almost two years. Anyway, this was a beautiful day for a country drive.

Missouri Spur-C, the road that leads to Union Covered Bridge.

A view of the east entrance.

The east entrance from a different angle.

Looking across the south side of the bridge. Not that age has started to cause some structural deformities.

Looking up at the southeast corner of the bridge.

A sampling of graffiti inside the bridge.

More from Union Covered Bridge

The Union Covered Bridge is one of those timeless historical places, making it a perfect subject for black and white photography. Here are some photos I took in late summer of 1996.

Stone walls lead up to the east entrance to the bridge.

Missouri Spur-C bypasses the bridge now and crosses the creek, just to our left, over a spillway.

The spillway over which the road crosses. The crossing is just to the south of the bridge.

Union Covered Bridge

The Union Covered Bridge is southwest of Paris, Missouri in Monroe county. For more information on the bridge, follow the link in the Landmarks I've Visited section. This was my first visit to the bridge.
