Hyde Park: Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain

One place I had to go while in London was the Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park. Like many of my fellow Americans, I loved Diana, so the time I spent at the fountain was actually quite somber. The Royal Parks department has a good web site with details about the fountain, a link to which can be found in the British Landmarks I've Visited section.

A sign near the fountain. Despite the request that persons not walk on the granite or in the water, some of the following photos will indicate the rule is not followed.

The fountain is quite large, and it's more-or-less round with several different waterfalls.

A close shot of one of the waterfalls.

Looking eastward back toward the Lido.

Looking north with The Serpentine in the background.

Another waterfall.

At the southern end of the fountain, looking toward The Serpentine.

Another view from the southern end.

Another waterfall. I noticed a lot of familes with children were at the fountain.

Another different type of waterfall.

Carved into the granite is the dedication.

A delayed exposure on one of the waterfalls.

One of the children unaware of the rules.

A final shot of the fountain looking south.
